Spice Sanctuary was founded by Trusha Patel, a former investment banking lawyer with a huge passion for good food and healthy cooking using the finest of ingredients. Frustrated by a lack of access to high quality, fresh and flavourful spices in the marketplace and shocked by the fillers, treatment processes and lack of provenance available, Trusha left her corporate career in London, England behind for the spice world. Her quest for the freshest, best grade single and specialty spices extended to all corners of the world but began with an extensive study program into spices covering, among other things, how they are grown, the different varieties and grades, techniques into preserving volatile oil content and health benefits. Her journey and success in providing access to spices of true distinction delivered through clean organic ingredients with clear provenance and a sustainable approach has culminated in prestigious Great Taste Awards and outstanding feedback from consumers and acclaimed chefs. In the past few years while living in Canada, Trusha, has quickly become one of Canada’s foremost spice experts earning her place as Canada’s Spice Queen™, eagerly sharing her passion and knowledge as a regularly featured TV expert and is a respected resource in the culinary and healthy living markets. She now splits her time between the UK and Canada and is thrilled to be bringing the spice love back to her home country!
Trusha is also a regularly featured expert on regional and national Canadian TV, has her own blog and is a guest writer for magazines including high profile brands such as Mind Body Green.
